Everton have reached out to a European club regarding a potential move for a versatile midfielder, according to recent reports.
Despite a busy transfer window, Everton have struggled to make a strong start in the Premier League, suffering a defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening weekend.
They will be back in action this Saturday, facing Tottenham Hotspur in London.
The Toffees had an eventful summer as they aimed to avoid a repeat of recent seasons marred by relegation battles.
Having secured their Premier League status toward the end of last season, both the club and its supporters are expecting improved performances this season.
To address this, manager Sean Dyche has implemented changes to strengthen his squad.
Everton have already signed five new players this transfer window.
Jack Harrison has returned from Leeds United, joined by Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa, Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille, Jake O’Brien from Lyon, and Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli.
However, their transfer activity may not end here. On Tuesday, it was reported that Everton are in discussions to bring goalkeeper Asmir Begovic back to the club.
Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam revealed that the Toffees are negotiating with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, and Fabrizio Romano has since confirmed that an agreement has been reached.

Begovic, who spent last season with Queens Park Rangers in the Championship, made 46 appearances across all competitions, keeping 13 clean sheets in 45 league games.
The 37-year-old previously played for Everton, having joined on a free transfer in 2021 from AFC Bournemouth.
He spent two seasons at Goodison Park, featuring 10 times and conceding 17 goals while keeping four clean sheets.
In addition to the potential Begovic deal, Everton have also shown interest in signing versatile midfielder Junior Dina Ebimbe.
According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Everton have inquired about the conditions for a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Dina Ebimbe, who joined Frankfurt permanently last summer from PSG, previously spent the prior season on loan with the German side.
Hawkins reports that Frankfurt are open to allowing Dina Ebimbe to leave, and discussions between the clubs are underway.
However, talks between Everton and the player or his representatives have not yet taken place.
Dina Ebimbe has made 73 appearances for Frankfurt, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists.
Last season, he played 31 times in the Bundesliga and featured in eight games in the European Conference League.
The midfielder, capable of playing both centrally and on the wing, is under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until the summer of 2027.
