David Ornstein: Chelsea Offer Everton ‘Financially Favorable’ Terms in Last-Minute Deal

David Ornstein and Paddy Boyland reported on 30 August that Albanian striker Armando Broja will be out until mid-October due to a foot injury.

While he recovers, the loan deal favors Everton.

Ipswich Town initially pursued the 22-year-old but pulled out on Transfer Deadline Day because of his expected recovery time.

This allowed Everton to secure a loan with a £30 million option to buy.

The transfer was finalized after the 11 p.m. deadline, thanks to a deal sheet submitted for extra time.

Everton manager Sean Dyche won’t have Broja available for about six weeks.

Despite this, Broja’s move to Everton is considered low-risk, taking advantage of a late opportunity as Chelsea needed to offload players.

Ipswich wasn’t prepared to take on the potential risk of Broja’s injury.

Concerns exist regarding Broja’s injury history and his lack of goals in the past two seasons.

However, Everton have shown interest in him for several years, and now they finally have the opportunity to see what he can bring to the team.

If Broja can improve on his disappointing loan spell at Fulham last season, he could prove to be an upgrade over Neal Maupay, who recently left for Marseille.

Maupay, a former Brentford and Brighton forward, struggled to fit Everton’s system.

Broja, when he has played for Chelsea, has operated as a lone striker, which might better suit Everton’s needs.

Broja’s injury also highlights the importance of Dominic Calvert-Lewin remaining in the squad, despite Chelsea showing interest in him in late August.

Calvert-Lewin’s ongoing presence is crucial, but his status is uncertain as Everton risks losing him for free if he doesn’t sign a contract extension.
