Major Development Following Sullivan Confidant’s Update on Player Exits with Several Transfer Windows Still Open

Julen Lopetegui significantly revamped the West Ham squad by bringing in nine new players and offloading some underperforming ones.

Over the summer, it became clear that West Ham had become much more efficient in the transfer market.

Lopetegui, along with Tim Steidten, aggressively pursued their top targets and successfully signed players like Jean-Clair Todibo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Crysencio Summerville, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodriguez. Additionally, on transfer deadline day, Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, James Ward-Prowse, and Maxwel Cornet left the club on loan.

However, the club wasn’t able to offload all the players they had hoped to, leaving some questions about potential future departures.

Although the transfer window has closed in England and many other top leagues, there are still several open windows in other countries where West Ham players could be sold.

Despite the possibility of further departures, one player linked with a move away appears set to stay.

According to Sean Whetstone, a confidant of West Ham co-owner David Sullivan, Danny Ings will not be leaving the club for a team in a country where the transfer window remains open.

Additionally, West Ham will not terminate Ings’ contract by mutual consent, as he is reportedly happy at the club.

Previously, there was speculation that Ings might leave for a club in Holland, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Croatia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Turkey, or even Saudi Arabia. However, that now seems unlikely.

The signing of Ings, who cost the club £15 million, is viewed as a significant misstep, akin to wasting money.

His acquisition was one of the reasons former manager David Moyes was replaced earlier this summer.

Ings is considered one of West Ham’s worst signings in recent history.

Many fans and analysts saw his failure coming when Moyes brought him to the London Stadium.

The decision to pay £15 million for Ings in January 2023 remains baffling to many.

He never fit West Ham’s style of play, especially under Moyes, and it appears his best days are behind him.

In his time with the club, Ings has managed to score only four goals, a disappointing return considering his transfer fee.

Moving Ings off the wage bill should have been a priority for West Ham during the summer transfer window, but they were unable to do so.

It now seems that Ings will remain with the club until his contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Fans can only hope that he will make some positive contributions during the remainder of his time at the London Stadium.
