Manor Solomon Achieves First for Leeds United Since Marcelo Bielsa’s Debut Match

In the same week that Solomon signed for Leeds on a season-long loan from Tottenham, he discussed the move with Archie Gray, highlighting his enthusiasm for joining Elland Road.

Leeds fans are eagerly anticipating Solomon’s presence on the left flank, especially after his debut performance in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Hull City, which marked his first professional appearance since September 2023.

Solomon played 74 minutes before being substituted by Joel Piroe, who scored Leeds’ second goal.

During the match, Solomon dribbled past two Hull players and delivered a superb cross for Mateo Joseph.

His assist was notable as it was the first debut assist for a Leeds player in over six years, the last being during Marcelo Bielsa’s first game in charge.

In that debut match, Leeds won 3-1 against Stoke City with goals from Mateusz Klich, Pablo Hernandez, and Liam Cooper.

The third goal came from Cooper, who headed in a corner delivered by Barry Douglas, making his debut for Leeds after joining from Wolves.

According to Opta’s Jonny Cooper, Solomon has now matched Douglas’ record for debut assists, stating on X: “Manor Solomon is the first Leeds player to assist on debut since Barry Douglas assisted Liam Cooper’s goal in Bielsa’s first game against Stoke in August 2018.”

Looking ahead, Solomon faces a challenging international break with the Israel national team.

Before returning to Leeds for their crucial Championship match against Burnley on September 14, Solomon will compete in the UEFA Nations League.

Israel, which is in the top tier of the competition, will play Belgium on Friday and Italy on Monday, with Israel being significant underdogs in both matches.

Given Solomon’s strong performance on Saturday, he could be a key player in these international fixtures.

Leeds will hope he avoids playing two full matches to minimize the risk of injury.
