“John Textor Delivers Candid Opinion on Sean Dyche’s Dismissal and Prospective New Everton Manager”

John Textor, the prospective owner of Everton, has refuted claims that he plans to replace current manager Sean Dyche with Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira if he takes over the club.

Farhad Moshiri, Everton’s majority shareholder, is currently in negotiations with Textor, a Missouri-born digital media mogul known as “Hollywood’s Virtual Reality Guru.”

However, before acquiring Everton, Textor would need to sell his 45% stake in Crystal Palace.

The 58-year-old also owns several other football clubs, including Olympique Lyonnais in France, RWD Molenbeek in Belgium, and Botafogo in Brazil.

Textor is the fifth potential buyer for Everton since 2022, following unsuccessful negotiations with the Kaminski Group, MSP Capital, 777 Partners, and the Friedkin Group.

Over the weekend, journalist Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon that if Textor completes the takeover, he would look to replace Dyche with Abel Ferreira as head coach.

Ferreira, born on December 22, 1978, was a right-back during his playing career, starting with his hometown team Penafiel in the northern Porto district.

He later played for Vitória Guimarães, Braga, and Sporting CP.

Ferreira’s coaching career began with the B teams of Sporting CP and Braga before he took over as Braga’s head coach.

He then moved abroad, coaching PAOK in Greece during the 2019/20 season before relocating to Brazil, where he led Palmeiras, a club in São Paulo, to back-to-back league titles in 2022 and 2023.

Textor has dismissed these rumors, with Liverpool World quoting his response to the Brazilian outlet Fogao Net: “This story about wanting to hire the Palmeiras coach is crazy.

I haven’t thought about hiring him in the last two years.

It couldn’t be further from the truth. I have nothing against Abel, but he is not a candidate for any offer from Eagle (Eagle Football Holdings, Textor’s multi-club ownership group), and I don’t believe he is looking for any offer.”

Under Dyche’s leadership, Everton managed to avoid relegation last season despite being hit with sporting sanctions, including an eight-point deduction.

Dyche, Everton’s eighth manager in the past eight years under Moshiri’s ownership, helped guide the team to Premier League safety before the final month of the campaign, a feat not accomplished since 2021.

Everton ended the season with five consecutive home victories, including their first Merseyside Derby win at Goodison Park in over 13 years.

Without the point deductions, Everton would have finished level on points with 11th-placed Brighton & Hove Albion.

However, Everton has struggled at the start of the current season, losing their first three games—3-0 to Brighton at home, 4-0 at Tottenham, and 3-2 to Bournemouth at Goodison Park, despite holding a 2-0 lead until the 87th minute.

They face Aston Villa next, with a Saturday evening kickoff at 5:30 pm.
