Alan Myers Reveals Latest Update on Broja’s Situation at Everton

A Sky Sports journalist reported on X (25 January) that Armando Broja’s return to Chelsea was speculated during the current transfer window due to his recent injury.

The Albanian striker was initially expected to head back to West London—possibly replacing another Everton loanee—after suffering an injury that could sideline him for up to 12 weeks.

Despite this, Broja now seems likely to stay at Everton and continue recovering from the ankle injury sustained against Peterborough United, even though David Moyes hinted at a potential return to Chelsea.

While Everton fans may be enjoying the team’s back-to-back wins under Moyes, the club’s off-field decisions raise concerns.

Moyes himself acknowledged that Broja’s three-month injury layoff—potentially keeping him out until late in the season—might end his spell at Goodison Park, yet the decision to retain him is perplexing.

Although Broja remains Chelsea’s player under contract, securing a resolution has been challenging.

He has made little impact at Everton, missing the first three months of his loan stint due to fitness issues.

Initially seen as Sean Dyche’s solution to Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s inconsistency, Broja’s injury and lack of contribution could make him one of Everton’s least effective signings.

Releasing Broja to open a loan slot—possibly for another Chelsea player—would have been a strategic move before the 3 February deadline.

Instead, keeping Broja limits Everton’s flexibility in the transfer market, leaving his injury a significant hindrance to the club’s plans.
