“Almost Certain” – Club President Confirms Leeds Player Deal Nearing Completion, Competes with West Ham for Defender

Real Betis president Ángel Haro has announced that the club is nearing an agreement to secure another loan deal for Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca, while also competing with West Ham United for the signing of Vitão.

Haro addressed the media to update on the club’s activities as they prepare for a summer of rebuilding. Roca, who joined Betis on loan last season after exercising a clause in his Leeds contract following their relegation to the Championship, played a crucial role for Manuel Pellegrini’s team and expressed his desire to remain with the club.

The primary issue revolves around the terms of Roca’s stay, with possibilities including another loan facilitated by the same contractual clause or a permanent transfer. Haro did not provide specifics but confirmed that Roca would be returning to Betis in some capacity.

“Roca remains almost one hundred percent, on loan or with another formula. If Carvalho and Guido leave, another midfielder will have to be signed,” Haro stated.

Meanwhile, Vitão is another target for Betis, although they face stiff competition from West Ham, who have already made a bid for the player. Vitão, a defender, is attracting interest from several European clubs as his contract is nearing its end, making him available on a free transfer.

West Ham acted quickly, submitting an offer to gain an advantage in securing Vitão as they aim to bolster Julen Lopetegui’s squad. Despite this, Betis is also keen on the player, with Haro confirming their interest.

“He is on our shortlist, with seven or eight others, very interesting. Nothing is closed, (because he) is an expensive player,” Haro commented.
