Ange Postecoglou Calls Heung-Min Son's Contract Extension "Brilliant"
On Tuesday morning, we announced that we’ve exercised the option to extend Sonny’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool, our Head Coach shared his excitement about the news.
Sonny, who has been with us since the summer of 2015, has grown into a global footballing icon during his time at the Club.
He has etched his name in Spurs history with countless goals, many of which were not only crucial but unforgettable moments in his remarkable journey here.
His importance to the team was further highlighted when Ange took over last summer and appointed Sonny as Club captain, calling him the ‘ideal choice’ for the role.
This decision was based not just on his on-field ability, but also the immense respect he commands within the dressing room.
“It’s brilliant,” Ange said of the extension. “Sonny has already had an exceptional career at this football club.
Over the past 10 years, he has played a pivotal role, leaving a significant mark both here and in the Premier League.”
He continued, “It’s fantastic to see his contract extended, and our goal is to ensure he ends his time at Tottenham with some well-deserved silverware.”
