Arsenal Star ‘Climbing’ Everton Shortlist in Latest Transfer Update: Report

A report on the outlet’s website on 13 August claimed that Everton have compiled a shortlist of potential striker signings in case Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Beto, or Neal Maupay are sold.
Arsenal’s forward is reportedly “gradually climbing their shortlist of targets,” according to sources, and a bid could be made if Calvert-Lewin leaves.
The Gunners are insisting on a £30 million fee for the 25-year-old if he is to leave The Emirates, prompting Everton to consider alternatives.
Chelsea’s Armando Broja is believed to be interested in joining Everton if given the chance but cannot if Calvert-Lewin stays, according to a report on 12 August.
At that price, securing Nketiah this summer seems unlikely unless a major offer comes in for one of Everton’s current forwards.
Calvert-Lewin’s contract situation is pushing him towards the exit at Goodison Park, but with no offers currently on the table, it is also likely to impact the size of potential bids.
If Everton were to accept a substantial offer for Jarrad Branthwaite, it could fund a move for the Arsenal forward.
However, without a current striker leaving, there doesn’t appear to be room in the squad for another.
Beto is wanted by Atalanta following Gianluca Scamacca’s injury, but Everton are not open to another sale to the Serie A side after selling Ben Godfrey.
As the 30 August deadline approaches, the club will face a scramble to secure a replacement if a goalscorer suddenly departs.
Maupay spent last season on loan at Brentford and may not require replacing, as Youssef Chermiti is still recovering from injury.
However, if Calvert-Lewin or Beto were to leave, manager Sean Dyche would be left short-handed.
One-cap England international Nketiah, who has 38 goals in 168 appearances for Arsenal, might flourish as a regular starter but could be an unrealistic option for Goodison Park.
