Sean Dyche seeks more Premier League experience for Everton squad, puts pressure on Kevin Thelwell
Everton have been proactive in the summer transfer window, bringing in Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye, Jake O’Brien, Jesper Lindstrom, and Jack Harrison, with the latter returning on loan.
According to the Liverpool Echo (4 August), manager Sean Dyche is now keen to add more experienced players before the window closes on 30 August.
“If we can,” Dyche said. “These are good players who I believe will develop further, but it’s a different demand when the real stuff starts and you play in the Premier League.
That’s always the challenge for players when they haven’t done it and then come in and they go: ‘Right, here we really go’. The quicker we can get them involved, the quicker we can hit the ground running.”

In the transfer market, Everton seems to be experiencing an identity crisis. On one hand, targeting future stars from overseas is a high-risk, high-reward strategy.
On the other, there’s a temptation to revert to something more familiar.
Following the departure of Amadou Onana, Director of Football Kevin Thelwell had to reassess the club’s strategy. The pressure is heightened when top clubs pursue your key players.
It seems the Toffees are leaning towards a “sign experience” mentality. Recently, they’ve shown interest in Tammy Abraham.
Throughout the Premier League, there are experienced players who aren’t getting consistent first-team minutes.
While there’s no guarantee that Everton will be an attractive destination for them, Dyche is wise to bring in players who understand the demands of the league.
From there, the goal is to build momentum and break away from the bottom third of the division.
