Leicester City have rewarded promising young attacker Jake Evans with his first professional contract at the King Power Stadium, tying the 17-year-old down to a long-term deal as part of their commitment to nurturing homegrown talent.

Evans has been one of the standout performers for the Foxes’ Under-21 side this season and is now firmly in the club’s long-term plans.

Head coach Carlos Cifuentes expressed his delight at Evans’ progress, telling LeicestershireLive:

“First of all, I’m very happy that he’s signed his contract. We have a lot of faith in him and he’s definitely in our plans for the future. I’m happy for him, his family, and for the club.

He’s been performing really well, scoring goals, and improving in other areas. When I talk about strikers, it’s not only about goals — though that’s obviously a great thing he’s doing right now.

I’m also very pleased with his overall development and I’m sure he’ll be an important player for us in the future.”

Leicester currently sit 10th in the Championship table after 12 matches, just two points shy of the playoff spots.

As they aim to push for promotion, Evans’ continued development will be closely monitored.

The club hopes to provide him with a clear pathway into the senior setup and may consider giving him first-team minutes in the coming months if his progress continues.

Having been part of Leicester’s academy from a young age, Evans has steadily risen through the ranks and featured prominently across various youth levels.

His talent was recognised last season when he made his senior debut in the Premier League against Brighton & Hove Albion in April, coming on during stoppage time.

The England youth international, who has represented his country at U16 level, went on to make three further appearances before the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship.
