BOMBSHELL FROM ROMANO: Tottenham’s Dream January Transfer Just Got OBLITERATED – “Pure FANTASY” Spurs Fans in TOTAL MELTDOWN as Top Target Becomes IMPOSSIBLE!! You Won’t Believe Who They Were Chasing…

Top Spurs midfield target unlikely to leave his club in January, says Fabrizio Romano

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to target midfield reinforcements in January, a logical step given their ongoing creative struggles in the centre of the pitch.

Xavi Simons has yet to make the desired impact since arriving at N17, and there remain doubts about whether Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha provide enough quality on the ball to address those issues.

As a result, recent speculation has linked Spurs with a move for Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay, who has significantly elevated his performances since leaving Manchester United for Serie A last year.

Fabrizio Romano issues McTominay update

Journalist Pete O’Rourke suggested earlier this week that McTominay would fit many of the criteria Thomas Frank is seeking in a new midfielder.

However, Fabrizio Romano has now clarified on his Italian YouTube channel—via a translation from BBC Sport—that the 28-year-old is highly unlikely to return to the Premier League in January.

Romano dismissed the current speculation as “fantasy”, stressing that the Scotland international is content with life in Naples.

Intriguingly, he added that the clubs monitoring McTominay most closely are teams such as Everton, who are also unable to offer Champions League football.

Spurs considering two other ex-Premier League options

The transfer links suggest that Frank wants a midfielder with Premier League experience who can make an immediate impact at N17, similar to the influence Palhinha has had since arriving.

Alongside McTominay, former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is believed to remain on Tottenham’s radar as a potential January target.

Recent reports have also indicated that Spurs are prepared to hand Ruben Neves a route back to English football, with the Portuguese international potentially available for a return from Al-Hilal.
