BREAKING NEWS: Top Contender Emerges in Brighton and Everton Battle for £30m Newcastle Player

According to Mark Douglas, Brighton is ahead of Everton, Borussia Dortmund, and Lyon in the pursuit of Newcastle winger Yankuba Minteh.

The I reported on 28 June that Brighton is in advanced talks over a deal likely exceeding £30 million for Yankuba Minteh. The 19-year-old is relaxed about his future but is inclined toward a move to a Premier League club, making Brighton an appealing option.

Everton’s hopes of signing Minteh are fading after Newcastle ended their pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as noted by Alan Myers on 24 June. Initially, the two deals were linked, with Minteh potentially heading to Goodison Park as part of a separate arrangement. However, Newcastle’s withdrawal from the Calvert-Lewin deal has significantly weakened Everton’s leverage in acquiring Minteh.

Brighton’s advanced negotiations and their readiness to invest over £30 million in the young winger put them in a stronger position. The Seagulls’ recent success in the Premier League and their reputation for nurturing young talent could make them a more attractive destination for Minteh, who is keen on joining a Premier League side.

Everton may need to reconsider their options, as they lack the financial power to engage in a bidding war. Meanwhile, Alan Myers also mentioned that Everton will announce a new signing in July, not before the end of June.
