Leicester City have made Graham Potter and Steve Cooper their top choices for the managerial vacancy, according to sources cited by Football Insider.
The Foxes were reportedly upset by the departure of Enzo Maresca, who left for Chelsea on June 3. After securing promotion back to the Premier League, Leicester quickly identified their preferred candidates for the role.
A well-placed source informed Football Insider that Potter, who last managed Chelsea during the 2022-23 season, is slightly favored for the position at the King Power Stadium. However, the 49-year-old has turned down several roles since leaving Stamford Bridge and remains unconvinced about joining Leicester.
Cooper, dismissed by Nottingham Forest in December 2023, is the second favorite to succeed Maresca. Leicester won the Championship in the 2023-24 season, finishing one point ahead of Ipswich Town.
Maresca, who took charge last summer, was swiftly recruited by Chelsea following his successful campaign at Leicester. The Foxes might face a points deduction next season due to a breach of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) during their title-winning run.
Potter, the former Brighton and Chelsea manager, has overseen 141 Premier League games with a win percentage slightly over 29%. Cooper, who managed 54 top-flight games at Forest, has a win percentage of 20.4%.
