Ex-Tottenham CEO Urges Spurs to Appoint 51-Year-Old Manager as Postecoglou’s Replacement.

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle has stretched their winless streak to one victory in seven Premier League matches, raising questions about Ange Postecoglou’s future at the club.

After this latest loss, the pressure on the Australian manager is mounting.

Looking back over recent results, Spurs’ form has been disappointing.

However, their results were mixed in earlier December, suffering a heavy 6-3 defeat against Liverpool on December 22nd and a 5-0 loss to Southampton on December 15th.

Their match against Chelsea on December 8th also ended in a 4-3 defeat, and their only bright spot in December was a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on December 5th.

Their 1-1 draw with Fulham on December 1st further underscored the club’s inconsistent form.

Despite this, Postecoglou’s job was reportedly secure before the Newcastle game.

However, with Tottenham’s position in mid-table, there is growing concern that this form could soon leave them languishing in the lower half of the standings.

If results do not improve soon, the club could find themselves in 14th place after 20 matches.

Among those questioning Postecoglou’s future is former Tottenham CEO Claude Littner.

Littner, who served as CEO during the Alan Sugar era, has expressed a lack of confidence in Postecoglou’s ability to turn the situation around.

He believes that the time may have come for a managerial change and has suggested that Brentford’s Thomas Frank could be a suitable replacement for the Australian.

Frank had been linked with the Spurs job before Postecoglou was appointed, and Littner feels the Danish manager would be a strong candidate.

Despite the significant difference in budgets between Brentford and Tottenham, Frank’s performance at the helm of the smaller club has been impressive.

His win percentage is only slightly lower than Postecoglou’s at Spurs, which is remarkable considering Brentford’s relatively limited resources.

Back in 2019, Spurs were competing in a Champions League final, while Brentford were still in the Championship.

Now, however, Brentford’s form under Frank has them challenging for a place above Tottenham in the table, a fact that highlights the contrast between the two clubs’ fortunes.

Should Spurs decide to part ways with Postecoglou, Littner believes Frank could be an ideal successor.
