Alexander Isak joined Bruno Guimaraes for media duties this morning as Newcastle United intensified preparations for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.

The Swedish striker has been a standout performer this season, emerging as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous forwards.

Only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland have scored more goals than the former Real Sociedad star.

His impressive form has inevitably attracted transfer speculation, which was addressed in today’s press conference.

Isak emphasized his happiness at Newcastle and dismissed discussions about his future, revealing that contract negotiations have not yet begun, though they could take place in the summer.

Despite links to Arsenal and Sunday’s rivals Liverpool, he remains committed to Newcastle, believing they are genuine title contenders.

When asked about his contract, he admitted that no talks had taken place but suggested discussions could wait until the season ends as the club focuses on Wembley and Champions League qualification.

“I’ve said many times I don’t look too much at my future,” Isak stated. “I am happy here, and we’re contenders for titles, which is what you want as a football player. The chances are there (to win things).”

On the prospect of summer discussions, he added: “I’m not thinking about that now, but it will be a talking point once the season is finished. No talks have been held yet.”

Dismissing Injury Concerns

Concerns had been raised about Isak’s fitness after he was substituted against Brighton due to groin tightness.

However, the striker clarified that he was never injured—only experiencing minor fatigue.

He assured fans that he feels fully fit for the final, and manager Eddie Howe confirmed that there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s game.

“I have not been injured,” Isak explained. “I’ve just had a bit of tiredness. The concern over my fitness has been overblown.”

Feeling confident ahead of the final, he added: “I feel good. I am really excited for the game. The best way to prepare is to train as normal.

It will come down to what we do as a team, and that is all we can focus on. I am excited but focused on the job.”
