Chris Sutton Makes Bold Prediction Ahead of Newcastle United vs Crystal Palace Clash

Newcastle face a quick turnaround following their emphatic Sunday afternoon victory over Manchester United.

However, their early momentum faded quickly, and they eventually suffered a 5-2 defeat.

That collapse may have deflated their spirits heading into this key fixture, which is vital for Newcastle in their push for Champions League qualification.

Pundit Chris Sutton expects a tight contest but ultimately backs Newcastle to come out on top.

Writing for the BBC, Sutton predicted a 2-1 victory for the Magpies, although he acknowledged it wouldn’t be a straightforward win.

“That said, it won’t be easy. Palace have actually collected more points away from home this season than they have at Selhurst Park.

They caused Manchester City real problems early on, and their counter-attacking setup can hurt teams.

“Expect Palace to look dangerous on the break again, with their wing-backs pushing forward when they can.

Newcastle might dominate possession, but Palace will still create chances.

“I think Palace will find the net, but keeping Newcastle quiet at St James’ Park is a big ask.

“Harvey Barnes is a player I’ve always liked. His competition with Anthony Gordon for a starting spot on the left, coupled with Jacob Murphy’s presence on the right and Alexander Isak up top, gives Newcastle some serious attacking options.”

Sutton’s predicted scoreline: 2-1 to Newcastle.

Newcastle will need to be especially cautious of Palace’s quick counters.
