Club Reignite Interest in Leicester City Player After Medical Setback – ‘Established Serious Contacts’ with Entourage

Monaco Reignite Interest in Leicester City Midfielder Boubakary Soumaré Following Failed Neil El Aynaoui Deal

According to Foot Mercato, Monaco have once again set their sights on Leicester City’s Boubakary Soumaré as they aim to bolster their squad this summer.

Monaco is focused on strengthening their team after finishing second in Ligue 1 last season, particularly in midfield, where they might lose Youssouf Fofana.

They initially targeted El Aynaoui, but the deal fell through due to a knee issue discovered during his medical, which will likely sideline him for eight months if surgery is needed.

As a result, Monaco has revisited their interest in Soumaré, who recently returned to Leicester after a successful loan spell at Sevilla.

The Ligue 1 club has monitored Soumaré’s progress and has established serious contacts with his entourage over the years, initially eyeing him as a potential replacement for Aurélien Tchouaméni in 2022.

Although there has been no direct contact with Leicester yet, this could change quickly if Soumaré and his representatives respond positively, as Monaco seeks to rebound from the setback with Aynaoui.
