The 25-year-old enjoyed an outstanding campaign, leading the Premier League for combined tackles and interceptions while also registering seven assists and creating 12 big chances.

Villa believe Garner’s energy, physicality and all-round midfield qualities make him an ideal long-term successor to McGinn as Emery continues building for the future.
