Exclusive: £40m Striker ‘Prepared to Push for Transfer’ to West Ham

West Ham United remain hopeful of signing Jhon Duran from Aston Villa. According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Duran is considering pushing for a move if Villa refuses to lower their asking price before the transfer window closes.

Since Julen Lopetegui replaced David Moyes as head coach, the Hammers’ management has not hesitated to support him financially.

This has been evident with the £40 million acquisition of Max Kilman from Wolverhampton Wanderers, reuniting him with the Spanish coach.

Additionally, West Ham secured Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for £25 million and signed Wes Foderingham after his contract with Sheffield United ended. Technical director Tim Steidten is now focused on further strengthening the squad before the August 30 deadline.

Duran has hinted at pushing for a move to West Ham if Villa continues to reject bids. He is determined not to be priced out of a transfer, especially given his limited playing time.

Despite making only three Premier League starts last season, he managed to score five goals, while Ollie Watkins established himself as a regular starter, aiding Villa’s Champions League qualification. Duran is eager for more playing time.

GMS sources indicate that Duran’s desire to join West Ham will increase if Villa turns down another offer. He is keen to move to the London Stadium, where he would challenge Michail Antonio for a starting position.

Chelsea has also shown interest in the Colombian international, who is valued at £40 million. However, no club has yet met Villa’s asking price, although they are open to selling as the transfer deadline approaches.

Duran has four years left on his contract at Villa Park, earning £30,000 per week, which gives the Midlands club no urgency to lower their financial expectations despite Duran’s interest in a new challenge for the 2024/25 season.
