David Trezeguet claims Tottenham’s top striker target is actually better than Harry Kane.
Harry Kane has continued his prolific form since joining Bayern Munich in an £86million move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, but talk of a potential Premier League return refuses to go away.
Tottenham’s new head coach Thomas Frank recently added to the speculation by admitting he would love to see the striker back in England, while TBR Football reported that Spurs could comfortably afford to re-sign their former talisman.
A clause in Kane’s Bayern contract reportedly allows him to leave for under £60million at the end of the current season, which could open the door to a homecoming.
The 32-year-old may also be tempted by the opportunity to chase down Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goals record — a target that still motivates him.
However, former France and Juventus legend David Trezeguet has sparked debate by ranking another frontman ahead of Kane.
When asked by La Gazzetta dello Sport to rank ten of the world’s best strikers, Trezeguet placed Lionel Messi at the top, followed by Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
Kane was surprisingly listed ninth, behind Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who came in seventh.
Interestingly, Vlahovic has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time, and TBR Football recently revealed the Serbian forward is eyeing a Premier League move in 2026.
Intermediaries have already spoken with both Spurs and Chelsea, while the 25-year-old’s Juventus contract expires next July after renewal talks collapsed.
With 134 goals in 310 club appearances, Vlahovic’s consistency in front of goal makes him an appealing option — particularly if Spurs fail to bring Kane back.
When comparing the pair this season, Kane holds the clear advantage.
The England captain has already netted 18 goals in just 10 appearances across all competitions, including 11 in the Bundesliga and four in the Champions League.
Vlahovic, meanwhile, has four goals from eight appearances, with two of those coming in European fixtures.
On statistics alone, Kane remains the superior option and would be the ideal signing if Tottenham can lure him home.
But if a reunion proves unrealistic, Vlahovic stands out as a younger, cost-effective, and high-potential alternative to lead the Spurs attack.
