Davide Ancelotti, a leading contender for the Rangers managerial role, has reportedly travelled to Brazil with his father, Carlo Ancelotti, as he awaits further discussions about his next move.

The younger Ancelotti recently concluded his tenure at Real Madrid alongside his father following their final La Liga match against Real Sociedad last weekend.

Carlo is preparing to take over as head coach of the Brazil national team.

Meanwhile, speculation continues to grow around Davide potentially edging out rivals such as Steven Gerrard and Russell Martin to become the new manager at Ibrox.

According to Spanish sources, Davide has “accompanied” Carlo to Brazil. However, he was notably absent when Carlo was seen arriving in Rio de Janeiro.

Spanish outlet Marca reports that the 35-year-old assistant coach is in Brazil while “awaiting an opportunity to become a head coach,” amid mounting suggestions he could take over from Philippe Clement on a permanent basis.

Some outlets suggest Davide Ancelotti may remain with his father during Brazil’s first two fixtures under Carlo’s leadership—against Ecuador and Paraguay. The latter match is set for June 11 at 1:45 a.m. UK time.

Back at Ibrox, Rangers players are expected to return for pre-season training on June 23.

The club will begin their Champions League campaign in the second qualifying round, with the first leg scheduled for July 22 or 23.

The managerial search at Rangers coincides with an imminent takeover by Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises.

The American group, which also owns Leeds United, is expected to bring significant investment potential to the Scottish Premiership club.

This has sparked speculation that Rangers may receive financial backing similar to what the 49ers offered Leeds United following their promotion to the English Premier League.

Leeds’ ownership plans to raise around £120 million through new share issuance, with the funds earmarked for stadium upgrades and summer transfers.

Parag Marathe, chairman of Leeds and a leading figure in the 49ers’ operations, pledged: “Together, we are going to build the best squad possible, spending every pound we are permitted to remain competitive in the Premier League.

However, new UEFA financial regulations may affect how much Rangers can invest early in the new ownership era.

These rules, introduced in June 2023, limit football-related spending—including player and coach wages, transfers, and agent fees—to 70% of a club’s annual revenue for those participating in European competitions.
