Leeds United Accelerate Transfer Business with Perri Deal Finalised and Another Goalkeeper Targeted

Leeds United are moving quickly in the transfer market, and manager Daniel Farke is keen to finalise another key signing to bolster his squad ahead of the new campaign, according to recent reports.

The Whites are on the verge of completing the signing of Lucas Perri from Lyon, a move that addresses a long-standing issue in the goalkeeping department.

Reinforcing this area became a top priority for Farke and his staff during the summer window, and the imminent arrival of Perri represents a major step forward in their recruitment strategy.

Highly respected journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed via social media that Leeds and Lyon have reached an agreement in principle for the Brazilian shot-stopper.

He wrote: “Leeds United have agreed deal in principle with OL for goalkeeper Lucas Perri. Medical tests booked and formal steps to follow, as Fabrice Hawkins reported. Deal in place to join LUFC.”

The transfer is expected to cost around £15 million, and the 27-year-old is set to provide calmness, composure, and reliability at the back – traits that Leeds sorely missed at times last season.

However, the Yorkshire outfit are far from done in the market, with reinforcements also being sought in midfield and attack.

Leeds are believed to be keeping a close watch on Bilal El Khannouss, a highly-rated Moroccan midfielder currently with Leicester City.

Following the Foxes’ relegation, the 20-year-old could be available for a fee in the region of £22.5 million.

Should the deal go through, El Khannouss would bring flair and creativity in the middle of the park.

In addition to the midfield target, Fulham forward Rodrigo Muniz is also on Leeds’ radar.

The Brazilian could help provide the attacking firepower needed to boost Leeds’ chances of staying in the Premier League next season.

Surprisingly, despite closing in on the Perri deal, Farke is reportedly not finished reshaping his goalkeeping options.

According to Transferfeed, Leeds are now exploring a deal to sign Robin Zentner from Bundesliga side Mainz.

Zentner, who enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 campaign and was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season, is viewed as a high-quality option who could offer strong competition to Perri for the number one shirt.

At 6ft 4in, Zentner fits the mould of physically dominant players Leeds have been targeting this summer.

Known for his consistency and commanding presence, he made 34 appearances last season and earned praise from Mainz boss Bo Henriksen, who described him as “an incredibly good goalkeeper.”

While having two experienced keepers may create selection headaches, examples like Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya at Arsenal show that competition can elevate performance levels.

For Leeds, after a turbulent year between the posts, ensuring adequate depth and quality in goal may be essential to their success in the top flight this time around.
