Injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar has highlighted the sensitivity of calf injuries, explaining that setbacks like Seamus Coleman’s often extend rehabilitation periods beyond initial expectations.

The veteran defender last featured for Everton in December during a 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

While manager David Moyes would undoubtedly welcome his leadership back on the pitch, Coleman’s return is not anticipated until at least April.

Speaking to Goodison News, Dr. Brar stated:

“He suffered a calf injury in training, which initially seemed mild. Normally, I would have expected a return within a few weeks.

However, these injuries require a meticulous rehab process, and unfortunately, his recovery has taken longer than first anticipated.

“There are even concerns he may not feature again this season, meaning even an April return remains uncertain.”

Everton Must Decide on Coleman’s Future

At 36, Coleman faces the natural challenges of aging, with recovery times slowing due to reduced physical resilience.

His latest setback adds to a history of serious injuries, including a horrific leg break in 2017 and a knee operation in 2023.

Having made over 400 appearances since joining Everton in 2009, his body is under increasing strain, making it harder to regain peak fitness.

With his contract set to expire in June 2025, Everton must make a crucial decision.
