Tottenham set to finalize £12.5m goalkeeper signing following Guglielmo Vicario injury setback

Tottenham are nearing the signing of Slavia Prague goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

Spurs have been without first-choice keeper Guglielmo Vicario since he fractured his ankle in their 4-0 win over Manchester City on November 23.

Fraser Forster stepped in but struggled, with Tottenham winning just two of their last 10 games across all competitions during an injury crisis.

Forster’s high-profile errors have added to the club’s defensive woes.

This has prompted Spurs to secure Kinsky, who is set to undergo a medical on Saturday.

The Czech Republic Under-21 international will join for an initial £12.5 million fee, plus add-ons.

Kinsky has made 29 appearances for Slavia Prague this season, recording 14 clean sheets.

The 21-year-old began his career at Dukla Prague before joining Slavia in 2021.

After loan spells at Vyskov and Pardubice, Kinsky became a regular starter and has now earned the chance to continue his career in England.

Under manager Ange Postecoglou, known for giving opportunities to young players, Kinsky will have a shot at competing for the No.1 spot.

Tottenham had considered other options, including Wolves’ out-of-favour goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, but chose Kinsky amid their ongoing struggles.

Vicario’s injury was described as a “shock” by Postecoglou on November 27, after the Italian finished the game at the Etihad despite the injury.

The absence of Vicario has been a persistent issue for Spurs, but the club hopes Kinsky’s arrival will stabilize their defense.

His addition is particularly significant as they await the return of injured centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
