Tottenham secured permanent deals for Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague and Kevin Danso from RC Lens, while also bringing in Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich on deadline day.

While Spurs focused primarily on defensive reinforcements, they also explored a move for Ansu Fati—a transfer that may now be more achievable following a significant development at Barcelona.

Hansi Flick Drops Ansu Fati from Barcelona Squad

TBR Football reports that Tottenham expressed interest in Fati during the winter window but ultimately opted for Tel.

Despite their efforts, no agreement was reached. However, the situation at Barcelona may now favor Spurs, as new head coach Hansi Flick has dropped Fati from his squad.

Fati was left out of Barcelona’s 4-1 victory over Sevilla, with Flick explaining his decision:

“Ansu Fati is out due to a technical decision tonight. I’ve talked to him honestly. He’s working and getting closer to the team.

It’s not that you speak to the coach and everything changes the next day, but he’s on the right track. I’ve seen moments where he’s at his best, and that’s the level we’re trying to reach again.”

Despite these comments, Fati has made just one start across La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Copa del Rey this season.

His lack of game time suggests that he does not have a future under Flick, making a summer exit increasingly likely.

Could Tottenham Pair Fati with Mathys Tel?

Not long ago, Fati and Tel were considered two of the most exciting young talents in world football.

Bayern Munich invested £25m to sign Tel from Rennes at just 17, while Barcelona saw enough potential in Fati to hand him the legendary No.10 shirt vacated by Lionel Messi in 2021.

The Spanish club even placed a staggering €1bn (£832m) release clause in his contract.

While Tottenham fans are eager for proven stars rather than unproven talents, the idea of pairing Tel and Fati could be a gamble worth taking.

Both players still have time to develop into elite attackers, and Spurs could capitalize on Barcelona’s willingness to offload Fati this summer.
