Richarlison could be on the verge of a remarkable return to Everton this January, with reports claiming that The Friedkin Group are prepared to throw their full support behind manager David Moyes in the upcoming transfer window.
The American owners demonstrated their ambition during the summer by heavily investing in the squad, bringing in Thierno Barry, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Jack Grealish, while also securing Tyler Dibling as their second-most expensive signing in the club’s history.
It was a bold statement from ownership determined to prepare Everton for life in their new stadium.
However, the Friedkin Group’s spending spree may not be over yet. Reports indicate that they are already working on addressing the team’s ongoing striker woes, which have persisted into the 2025–26 season due to the poor form of both Beto and Barry.
Barry, signed for £27 million, has struggled badly to adapt to Premier League football. Despite netting 19 goals for Villarreal last season, he has yet to open his account for Everton.
Beto, meanwhile, has scored only twice in 11 appearances, further highlighting the Toffees’ problems in attack.
If Moyes is to push Everton into the top half of the table, fixing that position is a top priority.
As a result, the club’s recruitment team has been exploring several attacking options. Everton scouts were reportedly in attendance at Galatasaray’s Champions League clash with Bodo/Glimt, where Victor Osimhen stole the show with a brace.
The Nigerian’s quality and consistency would make him an ideal long-term solution, though his price tag could prove prohibitive.
Another name attracting attention is Ivan Toney. Currently at Al-Ahli, the England international is said to be seeking a Premier League return to boost his chances of making Thomas Tuchel’s Euro 2026 squad.
Toney is reportedly open to working under Moyes, but whether Everton can afford his wages remains uncertain.
If those moves prove too ambitious, a more realistic – and emotional – alternative could be a reunion with Richarlison.
According to TeamTalk, the Brazilian is keen on returning to Merseyside in January.
After finding himself on the bench for Tottenham’s last three Premier League matches, he is reportedly eager for more regular minutes.
Everton could provide that opportunity. With the Friedkin Group eager to strengthen Moyes’ attack, Richarlison’s proven track record and emotional bond with the club make him an attractive option.
However, it remains to be seen whether Spurs boss Thomas Frank will sanction his departure. Earlier this season, Frank praised the forward’s performances, saying:
“Fantastic that he’s scoring. He was exceptional today — his work-rate, link-up play, hold-up play, just dominating.
The performance and medical departments deserve huge credit for helping him reach this level.”
Whether that form is enough to keep Richarlison at Spurs or tempt Everton into bringing him home will be one of January’s biggest stories.
