According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Everton are showing keen interest in signing Napoli attacking midfielder Jesper Lindstrom. The 16-time capped Denmark international faces a critical decision regarding his Napoli future under manager Antonio Conte. Napoli could sense a “great market opportunity,” especially if a Premier League club makes a significant offer.
Both Everton and Aston Villa are reportedly prepared to invest over £25 million for Lindstrom’s signature. Everton, likely to lose Amadou Onana to Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, could use the funds wisely by securing Lindstrom.
The Danish winger joined Napoli last summer from Eintracht Frankfurt, making 29 appearances in all competitions. However, he started only two Serie A games last season, mostly playing from the bench. Lindstrom might be looking to join a club where he can get regular game time, and Napoli could be tempted to offload him for the right price.
For Everton, Lindstrom would be a superb addition. The Toffees have Dwight McNeil as a conventional winger, and Jack Harrison has joined on loan from Leeds. Summer signing Iliman Ndiaye is another option but is more comfortable playing through the middle. Everton also tried to sign Jadon Philogene from Hull City this summer, but he is now heading to Aston Villa.
In this scenario, adding a versatile player like Lindstrom, who is comfortable on both flanks, would be beneficial. With Onana likely to move to Aston Villa for around £50 million, Everton must use the money judiciously. Although Lindstrom’s price tag seems high for a player who barely started games last season, Everton should negotiate to secure a favorable deal.
