Everton Fan Advisory Board Pushes for Stronger Measures as Football Governance Bill Faces Parliamentary Debate
The Everton Fan Advisory Board (FAB) is urging improvements to the Football Governance Bill, advocating for stronger measures as it moves to Parliament for debate.
The Bill is scheduled for its second reading in the House of Lords today, having first been introduced last season under the previous government.
FAB is now collaborating with Parliament members to enhance the Bill in two key areas.
First, they seek to establish fully independent fan advisory boards, elected solely by fans and free from club employees, directors, or appointees.
Second, they want the new regulatory body to have adequate authority to ensure that the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) are applied fairly and consistently.
Under these proposed changes, the Premier League would retain its PSR oversight, but the regulator would be empowered to investigate any potential procedural breaches.
FAB is actively advocating amendments to the Bill, working alongside figures such as Andy Burnham and Dame Sue Owen, former Permanent Secretary at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), as well as other fan groups and lawmakers.
