Everton may need to sell two star players this summer to address their financial issues. Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider that the Merseyside club is likely to face another points deduction next season.
Last season, Everton were docked eight points by the Premier League for two breaches of profit and sustainability (PSR) rules. They are currently in dispute with the governing body over certain costs related to the construction of their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, and a further independent committee hearing is expected later this year.
The club is believed to be close to breaching PSR rules again, with clubs allowed to lose only £105 million over a three-year period. Borson predicts Everton will likely lose this PSR battle, potentially resulting in a third points deduction at Goodison Park.
“They will probably be able to find a way to get through the summer by selling players and maybe bringing forward some of the Premier League money,” Borson told Football Insider.
