David Moyes has seen his options become increasingly limited in recent weeks, with a growing injury list severely restricting the 62-year-old’s ability to rotate his squad.
The lack of depth has been exposed as Everton attempt to navigate a demanding run of fixtures with a stretched group of players.

However, as January edges closer, two clear priorities have emerged based on what Moyes has observed during the first half of the campaign.
According to BBC Sport, signing a new striker has become an absolute priority for Moyes as he looks to inject more cutting edge into his side.
Although Barry has appeared more confident in training at Finch Farm since opening his account earlier in the month, he has yet to demonstrate the consistency required at Premier League level and is still searching for his second goal of the season.
A striker is not the only position under scrutiny. Moyes is also keen to strengthen at right-back, an area that has been unresolved since the summer.
Everton failed in their pursuit of Kenny Tete during the previous window and were unable to identify a suitable alternative, opting instead to delay addressing the issue.
There is also consideration being given to recalling Harrison Armstrong from his season-long loan spell at Preston North End, though the primary focus remains on external additions.
Moyes wants both a striker and a right-back to make a meaningful difference during the second half of the season.
That plan could spell the end for Nathan Patterson at Everton.
A proposed move to Sevilla collapsed in the summer after the Spanish club failed to offload one of their own players, leaving the Scotland international in limbo.
Since then, Patterson has remained on the fringes at Finch Farm, with Moyes showing little faith in him.
The manager has repeatedly overlooked Patterson, even opting to deploy O’Brien at right-back despite his natural role being central defence.
If Everton succeed in bringing in a new right-back in January, it would almost certainly signal the end of Patterson’s time at the club, with his exit now appearing inevitable.
