Everton Make Moves to Sign Former Sheffield United Star Previously Targeted by Crystal Palace
Everton have reportedly contacted French club Marseille regarding the potential signing of former Sheffield United star Iliman Ndiaye. The 24-year-old Senegal international completed his first full season in Ligue 1 with Marseille, his boyhood club, after playing a crucial role in Sheffield United’s promotion-winning Championship campaign.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, Everton are actively pursuing Ndiaye, exploring the possibility of bringing him back to England. Reports indicate that Marseille are open to recouping the nearly €20 million they spent to sign him from Bramall Lane last year.
Everton previously targeted Ndiaye last summer and renewed their interest in the winter transfer window. Although Ndiaye was initially keen to remain with Marseille, he is now reportedly more open to a return to England. Crystal Palace also showed interest in the Senegalese forward just six months after he joined Marseille.
In his debut season with Marseille, Ndiaye made 46 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing four assists. All but one of these goal contributions came in the league. If the transfer goes through, Ndiaye could soon be back playing in the Premier League, potentially bolstering Everton’s attacking options for the upcoming season.
