“Everton Open Door for New Manchester United Bid for Jarrad Branthwaite After Transfer Update”

Manchester United have already invested nearly £90 million this summer, bringing in striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna and defender Leny Yoro from Lille.

However, they have offset these costs with player sales, including £7.5 million for Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica, up to £7.6 million for Donny van de Beek to Girona, nearly £10 million for Willy Kambwala to Villarreal, and most recently, £26.6 million for Mason Greenwood, who has joined Marseille.

Despite these acquisitions, United are still in the market for new players, particularly in central defense. The club has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Matthijs de Ligt but has yet to finalize a transfer fee with Bayern Munich.

De Ligt, who previously worked with United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax, remains a key target.

United have also had two bids for Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite rejected. Their initial offer of £35 million plus add-ons was turned down, as was a subsequent bid of £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons.

Everton is reportedly demanding up to £80 million for Branthwaite, whose contract extends to 2027.

Recent updates from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggest that United might have an opportunity with Branthwaite.

Romano reports that Everton has agreed ‘in principle’ to sign Lyon’s Jake O’Brien, with a medical possibly scheduled for Sunday and a five-year contract on the table for the Republic of Ireland international. O’Brien joined Lyon last summer from Crystal Palace.

If Everton proceeds with the acquisition of O’Brien, it could signal a move to replace Branthwaite, potentially easing United’s path to securing the England international.

Should United make a third bid for Branthwaite, it may now stand a better chance of being accepted.
