Alcaraz Set for Everton Move Amid Loan Agreement with Flamengo
Carlos Alcaraz, 22, previously played in the Premier League with Southampton before joining Juventus on loan for the second half of the 2023-24 season.
The Argentine began the current campaign with the Saints, featuring as a substitute in their opening-day defeat to Newcastle.
However, he moved to Flamengo in August for a club-record £16m fee. Now, he appears poised for a swift return to England.
Although Everton have shown interest in signing Alcaraz, BBC Sport reports that a deal is not yet finalized.
However, Flamengo officially announced on Friday that they had reached an agreement to loan him to the Toffees.
The loan deal includes a “mandatory purchase clause,” contingent upon meeting certain conditions.
Flamengo’s football director, José Boto, explained the decision, stating:
“Negotiating Alcaraz was a result of a detailed analysis, considering both the technical committee’s vision and the club’s best interests.”
Should the transfer be completed, Alcaraz would become Everton’s first signing under the ownership of the Friedkin Group, who took over the club in December.
Moyes Admits Transfer Frustration Amid Everton’s Budget Constraints
Speaking ahead of Everton’s Premier League clash with Leicester, manager David Moyes expressed confidence in securing signings before Monday’s transfer deadline.
“We’re actively looking for players, but we remain restricted by Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR),” Moyes said.
The manager admitted feeling “jealous” of clubs that can afford big-money signings, emphasizing Everton’s cautious approach to avoid past financial troubles, including points deductions.
“We hope to bring in players, but maybe not the ones we’d target if we had more financial flexibility,” Moyes added.
