Everton have secured a sell-on clause as teenage midfielder Halid Djankpata prepares to join Serie B club Spezia, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian journalist reported on his live transfer blog [29 August] that Spezia are set to announce the signing of 19-year-old Halid Djankpata on Thursday (29 August).
Everton will retain a percentage of any future sale, having inserted a sell-on clause in the deal for their Premier League 2 captain.
Everton are eager to raise funds before the 30 August deadline, turning to their youth setup to generate cash by any means possible.
There could still be developments regarding Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future [Alan Myers].
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move throughout the summer and could still leave Goodison Park with just two days remaining until the deadline.
The club is also looking to offload defender Mason Holgate [Harry Watkinson], with interest coming from both European sides and Championship clubs.
However, his wages have become a stumbling block in securing a permanent transfer.
While Djankpata’s sale is unlikely to bring in a significant fee, as he has yet to make a senior appearance, it marks the beginning of Everton’s efforts to offload players.
If Djankpata succeeds at Spezia, Everton could benefit financially from a future sale.
