Leicester City Edge Out Feyenoord to Secure €18m-Rated Brighton Winger on Season-Long Loan
Leicester City have returned to the Premier League after spending last season in the Championship, but they’ve undergone significant changes.
Enzo Maresca, who managed them last season, has departed for Chelsea, and Steve Cooper has been appointed as his replacement.
The choice of Cooper as manager is somewhat surprising for the 2015-16 Premier League champions, as his style contrasts sharply with Maresca’s.
Nevertheless, this is the decision Leicester have made, and they must now move forward under Cooper’s leadership.
This season, Leicester have seen the departures of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Kelechi Iheanacho.
However, they have also made several signings, including Issahaku Fatawu, who was on loan last season, Caleb Okoli, and Michael Golding. Now, they have added another promising talent to their squad.
According to reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City have secured the loan signing of Facundo Buonanotte, a talented winger from Brighton & Hove Albion, beating Eredivisie giants Feyenoord to his signature. The loan deal is for the entire season.
Buonanotte, a left-footed right winger with an excellent curling shot, can also play as an attacking midfielder.
The 19-year-old Argentine international is currently valued at around €18 million by Transfermarkt and is expected to have a bright future in the sport.
Last season, Buonanotte regularly featured under former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, where he impressed with his mature performances despite his young age.
It’s surprising that new Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has opted to loan him out, especially without including a buy option in the deal, indicating that the Seagulls still see a future for him at the club.
At Leicester’s King Power Stadium, Buonanotte will be aiming for a regular starting role to further develop his game.
With his ability to change the course of a match with moments of brilliance, Leicester fans will be eager to see what he can bring to the team over the next 12 months.
