Steve Cooper’s Firm Stance on Leicester City as He Makes ‘Ruthless’ Admission

Steve Cooper is downplaying the added pressure of Leicester City’s visit to Ipswich Town, despite both clubs sitting in the Premier League’s bottom six.

Ipswich remain winless with four points from nine matches and face Leicester at Portman Road after three consecutive losses.

Leicester, having won against Bournemouth and Southampton, stand at nine points. A win would lift Leicester eight points clear of Ipswich.

However, Cooper stressed the significance of all games equally, saying, “Every match is important.

A win can change everything, as we’ve seen with our two victories already. It’s not about assuming where anyone should be in the standings; it’s about respecting each opponent and staying focused.”

He added that achieving success requires effort in every match. “When we perform at our best, it’s about focusing on our own game,” Cooper emphasized.

For Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Manchester United, where Leicester lost 5-2, Cooper made nine lineup changes.

Only James Justin and Caleb Okoli remained from the team’s prior 3-1 league defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Cooper acknowledged Leicester’s defensive issues, admitting improvements are essential.

“I can’t ignore the goals we’ve conceded,” Cooper stated. “We need to concentrate better and be in the moment. In this league, mistakes are costly.”

He underscored the importance of striking a balance.

“We need to find the right balance, making sure we score more than we concede,” Cooper concluded, emphasizing Leicester’s need to improve defensively to secure future wins.
