David Moyes targets a strong end to the transfer window, recognising it as crucial for Everton’s European ambitions.
Everton are preparing to open their Premier League campaign against Leeds United next week, with optimism building as the club embarks on a fresh chapter.
Despite the positive mood, the squad remains short in certain areas, and supporters are eager for The Friedkin Group and the recruitment team to strengthen further in the coming days and weeks.
So far, five new signings have arrived, the most recent being Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. However, as many as four more additions may still be needed.
One potential target is another striker, even though Thierno Barry joined just a few weeks ago.
Barry has already made a blistering start to the 2025/26 season, yet Everton appear keen to add more firepower.
Franculino Dju on Everton’s radar
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Dju is attracting interest from Everton during the closing weeks of the transfer window. Writing on X, Moretto noted:
“Franculino Djú, from FC Midtjylland, will be one of the names to watch in this transfer window’s final days. Several teams are interested in him, including Roma, Leipzig, and Everton.
The 21-year-old forward has already scored six goals in four matches this season and is valued at around £17 million.”
Previous reports suggested Everton had already made contact with the player’s representatives.
Franculino joined Midtjylland in 2023 from Benfica and has excelled in Denmark, netting 40 goals in just 79 appearances.
His current campaign has started in spectacular fashion, with six goals in the opening three Danish Superliga matches, plus another in Europa League qualifying.
Everton’s potential advantage in the chase
Everton could have a subtle edge in pursuing Franculino: he is an international teammate of current Everton striker Beto with Guinea-Bissau.
The two have only played together once for their national side, but the connection could still prove useful in talks.
If Everton were to move for Franculino, it would be intriguing given the presence of both Beto and Barry in the squad.
However, David Moyes recently criticised Beto ahead of the Manchester United fixture, which raises the possibility that the club might consider selling him to make room for the Midtjylland star — described by Football Talent Scout as “a complete striker.”
Alternatively, Moyes might intend to loan out Youssef Chermiti and bring in another centre-forward to bolster options.
With the season about to begin, the next few weeks could be decisive in determining whether Everton add Franculino Dju to their attacking lineup.
