Everton target Man United defender as he considers early exit – report

The Toffees are reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof, valued at around £6.5 million, according to reports on 16 December.

The Sweden international, whose contract expires at the end of the season, is open to leaving Old Trafford.

Dan Friedkin, expected to complete his takeover of Everton by 18 December, is likely to provide Sean Dyche with funds for the January window.

Everton currently have strong centre-back options, with James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite as Dyche’s preferred pairing.

Michael Keane serves as backup, while Jake O’Brien was added during the summer.

However, Keane’s contract ends this season, and he’s expected to depart, making a summer move for Lindelof more practical.

Meanwhile, Everton must focus on bolstering their attack, as their number nine position remains a concern.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto have struggled to deliver, and loan signing Armando Broja has only just returned from injury.

The Albanian forward, brought in from Chelsea, will be unavailable for the clash against Leicester City on 22 December due to loan restrictions.

Elsewhere, Everton secured a 0-0 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates on 14 December, showcasing defensive resilience.

However, with limited funds and pressing needs in attack, a Lindelof transfer in January seems unlikely.
