Everton Target Pogba-like Midfielder in £8m Cut-Price Deal – Report

The newspaper reported in their print edition on August 11 (page 74) that Everton is among the clubs tracking 22-year-old midfielder Amir Richardson, who “flourished” while playing for Morocco at the 2024 Olympics.

Although Richardson has reportedly agreed to join Fiorentina this summer, his market value of just £8 million has kept Everton, Leicester, and Tottenham interested in the Stade de Reims star, according to Get Football News France on August 7.

The six-foot-four midfielder’s performances for Morocco have drawn comparisons to Paul Pogba, sparking widespread interest due to the “relatively cheap price” of a potential transfer.

Could Everton secure a midfield upgrade with the signing of Amir Richardson? With £50 million available from Amadou Onana’s long-anticipated move to Aston Villa, the Toffees face a significant decision regarding their midfield, and Richardson could be the answer.

Replacing a player of Onana’s calibre with another who has only Ligue 1 experience might seem risky, but Richardson’s physical presence and high potential could allow him to seamlessly fill a similar role.

Sean Dyche’s side has reportedly spent the majority of their transfer budget this summer despite Onana’s big-money exit, as noted by The Athletic on August 9. Therefore, targeting players around the £10 million mark is a prudent strategy.

Given Richardson’s potential and the perceived bargain of his £8 million market value, signing him would be seen as a significant coup for Everton.

Beating Spurs and newly-promoted Leicester to his signature would not only provide Dyche with the Onana replacement he needs but also demonstrate the Toffees’ astute transfer dealings amid challenging circumstances this summer.
