Everton Looking to Extend Calvert-Lewin and Gueye’s Contracts
Despite being sidelined with an injury, Dominic Calvert-Lewin showed early promise under Moyes, scoring for the first time since September in the manager’s second game back at Goodison Park.
Now that the transfer window has closed, Everton are turning their attention to key contract renewals. Bailey shared his understanding of the situation, saying:
“Everton want to keep Calvert-Lewin, but I wouldn’t rule out Idrissa Gueye or Abdoulaye Doucoure staying either. Gueye is the most likely to remain.”
Everton fans are particularly keen to see Gueye extend his stay beyond the summer, given his standout performances in midfield.
With Orel Mangala ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury, Gueye’s role has become even more crucial for the Toffees.
Coleman and Young Expected to Depart
Ashley Young has delivered solid performances at right-back for Everton this season, but Moyes has since handed Jake O’Brien an opportunity, and the Irish defender has impressed.
Meanwhile, club captain Seamus Coleman has hinted that he may leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Bailey also suggested that Michael Keane could follow them out of Goodison Park.
“I don’t think Ashley Young or Seamus Coleman will return next season. And at this point, I’m not convinced Michael Keane will either,” he added.
