Everton’s summer transfer activity has been underwhelming so far, with minimal business conducted.

However, the club is now stepping up efforts to bring in reinforcements, with Jack Grealish among the high-profile names linked.

Right-back remains a key area of need for David Moyes, and with limited options in defence, Everton are actively pursuing a move for Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez.

Wolves are also interested, but competition from Italian side Napoli appears to be more serious.

Sanchez, however, is reportedly leaning toward a move to Napoli over the Premier League. Despite Everton’s hopes of bringing him to the Hill Dickinson Stadium and interest from Wolves, the 21-year-old Spaniard prefers a switch to Serie A.

According to the 7 August print edition of ABC (page 55), Sanchez visited Sevilla’s Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan offices with his agents on 6 August to discuss his future.

The report indicates he made it clear that Napoli is his top choice, even though Wolves have submitted a suitable offer and Everton’s interest remains active.

Napoli have made a bid just under £15 million—short of Sevilla’s valuation—but Sanchez would even consider staying in Spain over joining an English side, although Sevilla’s financial struggles could force a move.

Capable of playing as a right-back, right winger, or central midfielder, Sanchez would bring much-needed depth and versatility to Everton. Nevertheless, the Toffees may need to shift their focus elsewhere.

With Sanchez setting his sights on Napoli, Everton can’t afford to waste time chasing a player unwilling to prioritise a move to Merseyside. The club has already experienced similar transfer delays and indecision this summer.

Given the departures of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Jack Harrison, and with squad depth a pressing concern, Moyes must act quickly to secure alternative targets and strengthen the team before the window closes.
