Leicester City fan pundit Louchlainn Martin shared his thoughts when asked which realistic signing he would most like to see the club make in the coming months.

He responded: “With Jamie Vardy leaving after 13 incredible years at the club, there’s a massive void to fill.

That’s why I believe our top priority should be signing Josh Sargent from Norwich City. It would be a real statement signing for us.

“We clearly need a striker now, and while it’s unrealistic to expect anyone to fully replace Vardy, Sargent could certainly bring a lot to the table.”

Martin went on to explain that replacing Vardy is about much more than just goals. “Jamie gave the team its identity—his intensity, his movement, his ability to threaten defenders from the first whistle.

That’s what we now need to replicate. Sargent brings energy, work-rate, and finishing ability, which are essential if we want to mount a quick return to the Premier League.”

The Norwich City forward has enjoyed another productive season in the Championship, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists.

He netted 16 times the previous year and 13 in the campaign before that, making him a consistent and reliable source of goals in the division.

In fact, over the past three years, Sargent has built a strong case as one of the Championship’s top centre-forwards.

Fourteen of his 15 league goals this season came from inside the penalty area (according to FotMob), showcasing his instinctive positioning and poacher’s instinct—traits reminiscent of Vardy in his prime.

Sargent, who is under contract at Norwich until 2028, would likely command a notable transfer fee. However, Martin believes the deal is financially viable for Leicester.

“He’s only 25, has pace, works tirelessly off the ball, and brings a lot of the attributes Vardy had. I think a fee in the region of £10-15 million would be enough to get it done.

Norwich fans may think he’s worth more, but I think that figure is realistic.

“He’s hungry, has proven himself in this league, and fits the direction the club is aiming for. It wouldn’t be a gamble—it would be a calculated, smart signing.
