Report: Leicester City compete with West Ham for 149-goal striker previously targeted by Brendan Rodgers

Reports suggest Leicester have entered the race, alongside West Ham, to secure a loan move for RB Leipzig’s Andre Silva.
According to The Sun, Silva, who has made only eight Bundesliga appearances this season, is available on loan.
Despite his limited game time—just 124 minutes off the bench—the 29-year-old Portugal international remains an intriguing prospect.
Silva, capped 53 times by Portugal, has fallen down Leipzig’s pecking order under manager Marco Rose, who favors starting Lois Openda and Benjamin Sesko.
The forward is reportedly eager for a Premier League move, a prospect that divides opinion among fans.
While Silva boasts an impressive career tally of 149 goals for clubs like Porto, Sevilla, and AC Milan, his recent form is less encouraging; he hasn’t scored double figures in a league campaign since netting 11 goals for Leipzig in 2021/22.
Despite this, Silva’s career averages nearly one goal involvement every two games, suggesting potential for resurgence under Van Nistelrooy’s guidance.
The Dutchman’s expertise could help Silva rediscover his best form and provide Leicester with the attacking boost they desperately need.
This isn’t the first time Silva has been linked with Leicester.
In 2019, Spanish outlet El Desmarque reported that then-manager Brendan Rodgers sought to bring him to the King Power Stadium.
At the time, AC Milan was open to selling Silva following his loan at Sevilla, and several top clubs, including Wolves, Barcelona, Marseille, and Monaco, expressed interest.
Ultimately, Eintracht Frankfurt won the race, and Silva flourished in the Bundesliga, amassing a remarkable 45 goals and 15 assists in 71 appearances before joining Leipzig in 2021.
If Silva can recapture that form, he could be a transformative signing for Leicester.
