Club remains hopeful for West Ham star transfer, new offer under consideration – report

According to Julio Miguel Neto, Flamengo have not abandoned their pursuit of West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta this summer.

On Sunday, July 14, journalist Julio Miguel Neto reported via X on Rubro News TV that Flamengo is considering making a new offer for West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta. The Brazilian club is exploring ways to make their proposal more appealing to the Hammers, aiming to increase their chances of securing the Brazil international’s signature.

Flamengo’s initial loan offer was rejected by West Ham, but the club remains persistent in their efforts. They are keen to secure Paqueta’s transfer, at least on a year-long loan, despite the initial setback.

The future of Lucas Paqueta at West Ham United is uncertain, especially with the possibility of a significant lifetime ban from football looming over him due to charges of breaching the FA’s betting rules. This situation has made the Hammers apprehensive about his long-term availability. Consequently, they might be open to selling him permanently if a suitable offer is made by Flamengo or another club.

While Paqueta is still eligible to play, West Ham is reluctant to let him go. They recognize his potential to be a crucial player under manager Julen Lopetegui and the new coaching staff at the London Stadium.

Therefore, another loan proposal from Flamengo is unlikely to be accepted, as it offers minimal long-term benefits to West Ham beyond temporarily removing Paqueta’s wages from their books.

Unless Flamengo submits a substantial offer for a permanent transfer, it seems improbable that Paqueta will be leaving East London before the new season begins. West Ham’s priority is to retain players who can significantly contribute to their campaign, and Paqueta fits this profile when available for selection.
