The 32-year-old left Barcelona upon the expiry of his contract on July 1, and the Hammers are now considering a move to sign him on a free transfer.

Out of those 24 appearances, only 14 were in the league, and only 15 were starts, reducing him to a bit-part role.
Roberto’s release earlier this month was a result of Barcelona’s ongoing financial difficulties, making him a casualty of another wage bill reduction.
West Ham has identified Roberto as a potential addition to Julen Lopetegui’s squad, leveraging the fact that Lopetegui managed him during his brief tenure as Spain’s head coach.
Roberto’s extensive experience at the highest level of football would be invaluable to the team, providing Lopetegui with added influence among the players in the dressing room.
