West Ham United have faced a frustrating summer in the transfer market but are hopeful for their first major breakthrough.
Their initial big move involved a bid for Brazilian international defender Fabricio Bruno. Despite nearing an agreement, the deal for the 28-year-old fell through, despite the best efforts of technical director Tim Steidten.
West Ham also engaged in talks with Corinthians for 19-year-old winger Wesley, but that move has stalled. Additionally, a bid for Palmeiras’ midfielder Luis Guilherme was initially called off due to excessive demands from both the player and the club.
However, there is finally progress on the Brazilian front. HITC confirms that West Ham are back in talks with Palmeiras over Luis Guilherme after both the club and the player lowered their demands.
Earlier this month, HITC reported that Hammers chairman David Sullivan had withdrawn from the transfer, deeming the finances inappropriate. Nonetheless, Steidten did not give up on the deal and has played a crucial role in reviving it.
The deal for Guilherme is understood to be around £20 million plus add-ons, and West Ham are now hopeful it will be concluded this week.
HITC had revealed earlier this month that Hammers chairman David Sullivan had pulled away from the transfer as they did not think the finances were appropriate. However, Hammers chief Steidten did not not give up on the deal and has played a key role in the move being resurrected.
