On the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that West Ham may target a new striker as early as January.
Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are both out of contract at the end of this season and could become free agents next summer if new deals aren’t agreed upon.
However, West Ham might consider selling them during the January transfer window to free up space in the squad and reduce their wage bill.
There are concerns about West Ham’s long-term options in the striker position, with Antonio and Ings being central to those discussions.
The club may opt to part ways with both players sooner than anticipated.
Antonio, who joined West Ham in 2015, has made 311 appearances, scoring 82 goals and providing 40 assists.
At 34 years old, he remains a key player this season, starting in every game for the Irons.
In contrast, Ings has struggled for game time, playing only five minutes in the current campaign.
He wasn’t even included in the squad for West Ham’s recent match against Manchester City.
Since joining in 2023, Ings has scored just four goals in 53 appearances.
According to Football Insider, West Ham are actively working on securing a new forward.
Strengthening the attacking lineup is seen as a top priority for manager Julen Lopetegui, as he seeks to bolster the team’s offensive options.
