“Fabrizio Romano Applauds Aston Villa Following West Ham’s Summer Actions”

The Colombia international scored a memorable goal for Aston Villa in the Champions League, leading to a 1-0 victory against Bayern Munich on October 2.

This loss was particularly disappointing for West Ham, who were interested in acquiring the 20-year-old during the recent transfer window.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing on October 4, both West Ham and Chelsea were among the clubs pursuing Duran over the summer.

He stated, “The deal fell through, but Jhon Durán was a strong candidate for Chelsea.

Credit goes to Villa, as when West Ham and other teams sought to sign the player, the club consistently demanded £50 million or nothing.”

Romano noted that Aston Villa rejected multiple offers, including proposals of £42 million plus an academy player or a sell-on clause, but ultimately decided to retain Duran.

West Ham missed out on signing Aston Villa star Jhon Duran.

During the summer, when Duran was seen making West Ham gestures on an Instagram livestream, few could have predicted his subsequent impact.

Since joining Villa from Chicago Fire, he has emerged as one of the most lethal strikers in the Premier League and Europe, netting six goals in his first nine appearances of the season.

Although he has primarily come off the bench for Unai Emery’s side, Duran’s contributions have been significant, with his most notable goal coming against Bayern Munich, where he lobbed Manuel Neuer to secure a historic victory for Villa.

West Ham’s situation could have looked different had a deal for Duran materialized, especially as they are in dire need of a reliable striker.

Niclas Füllkrug is currently injured and may not return until after the international break, which is a setback for the team.

Julen Lopetegui must now choose between Danny Ings and Michail Antonio, but it’s clear that Duran would have been a superior option over either of them at this moment.
