Despite earlier reports linking Tammy Abraham with a move to West Ham United, the England international seems no closer to leaving AS Roma than he was at the start of the transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Abraham has been with Roma since 2021, joining from Chelsea for approximately £34 million.
He enjoyed a promising start in Italy, scoring 27 goals across all competitions during his debut season.
However, his progress has been hindered by injury, and he spent much of the 2023/24 season sidelined due to a cruciate ligament issue.
This summer, it was anticipated that Abraham might depart Roma. Having dropped down the club’s pecking order, he is open to moving elsewhere.
West Ham United was initially considered his most likely destination, with the Hammers having already had one bid for him rejected.
However, according to recent updates, no team is close to securing Abraham at the moment.
Current reports indicate that despite Roma rejecting offers from both West Ham and Everton, Abraham’s departure from the club is not imminent.
Romano, via the Daily Briefing, has stated there is no immediate movement on Abraham’s transfer.
He has not received any updates from West Ham, and rumors of a move to Saudi Arabia have been downplayed.
Additionally, AC Milan, who had shown interest, have shifted their focus to other targets.
“Despite reports, I’m not aware of anything imminent now for Abraham. I don’t have confirmation on West Ham, for Saudi there are different movements now so it’s not something close or concrete.
Abraham has been high on Milan’s list for weeks but they’ve many players and they decided to invest in different positions,” Romano said.
With the transfer window still open, there is time for a deal to be struck. If West Ham were to secure Abraham, it would cap off what has already been a remarkable transfer period for the club under new manager Julen Lopetegui.
West Ham has made significant strides in the transfer market following David Moyes’ departure and Lopetegui’s appointment.
The club has bolstered its squad with the signings of Max Kilman and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to strengthen the defense and Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville to enhance the attack.
These additions have significantly improved the squad compared to the previous season.
Adding Abraham to this mix would further elevate West Ham’s squad.
Whether the club will complete this deal before the transfer window closes at the end of the month remains to be seen.
